Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department

MECO Engineering planned and designed the 22,000 LF sidewalk and trail system for the Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department (12 designated sidewalk/trail systems). This system connects schools, parks, residential areas, local business districts, and an important medical center, providing safer walking and biking environments throughout many areas of the community for students, residents, and employees of the medical center.

MECO worked closely with the Jefferson City Parks Department and the Jefferson city Medical Group (JCMG) to coordinate and design the site plan for the location for this new pedestrian and bike trail. The new Satinwood Trail connects to the Wear’s Creek Trail, providing trail access to the Jefferson City Medical Group facility. This work resulted in a beautiful trail that is accessible to both the community and to the employees of the MCMC, providing important health benefits for both. The JCMG provided financial assistance towards payment of the $160,000 cost, and donated right-of-way for the 2,440 LF concrete trail to ensure the completion of this important project for their employees. President, Scott E. Vogler was principal engineer and project designer for all trial/sidewalks associated with the City of Jefferson Park, Recreation and Forestry Department

East High Street Reconstruction Jefferson City, MO

Preparation of Preliminary Engineering Report, survey, stormwater calculations, design, production of plans, specifications, contract documents, and engineer’s estimate. MECO provided complete construction management and observation services for the East High Street reconstruction, stormwater improvements, and sidewalk project. This is a busy residential and connector street just off of the downtown district in Jefferson City that was subject to extreme flooding conditions during normal to high rain events.

Project activities included the construction of a new asphalt driving surface with concrete curb and gutter, and replacement of sidewalks to meet ADA compliance. The installation of new stormwater piping and the new curb and guttering has reduced the incidence of high water throughout this local area.
