MECO's Surface Transportation Department brings together a talented team of professionals experienced in the planning, design, survey, and construction of streets, roads, sidewalks, trails, and bridges for our clients in Missouri and Illinois.
Our Structural Engineering Department, led by a licensed Structural Engineer (SE), brings combined years of extensive experience with the MoDOT BRO/BRM program, designing hundreds of bridges of all types and sizes and most funded through this important program. We understand the many complexities of the program and we will take you through the process every step of the way.
Our Surface Transportation Department is supported by our Professional Land Survey Department, managed by a Professional Land Surveyor licensed in Missouri. We provide quality surveying services, promptly, and at competitive prices.
We have all seen the continued increase in traffic on our roads and highways and the adverse affect it is having on our roads and bridges, locally and throughout the country. As roads and bridges deteriorate, everyone's safety is compromised. Providing safe transportation routes is of paramount importance to MECO.
Let our Transportation Team show you how we can help you meet your project goals, whether you need one street repaired, a new connector road constructed, or the complete replacement of a bridge. We start by assessing your needs, preparing preliminary cost estimates, and presenting appropriate recommendations.
We look forward to working with you on your next transportation project.

Projects Red Devil Road Extension; Hannibal, Missouri The expansion of the General Mills facility in Hannibal prompted the planning, design, and construction of this important transportation infrastructure system improvements project and resulted in the retention and creation of important jobs for Hannibal and Northeast Missouri. The first phase of the project required the preparation of Preliminary Engineering Report for the Red Devil Road Extension Project. MECO Engineering was commissioned by the City of Hannibal to prepare the Preliminary Engineering Report. Upon approval of funding through the Department of Economic Department, the City authorized MECO to proceed with the design of the two- lane (12-foot wide lanes), 10-inch thick Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) roadway (1,775 LF), complete with tack-on curb, geotextile grid, aggregate base, aggregate surface for driveways, 8-foot wide asphalt shoulders, entrance road culverts, 10’ x 7’ triple-box culvert structure at the Bear Creek tributary, and other necessary storm water drainage components. MECO also provided land surveying and right-of-way services, project management, construction management and full-time on-site construction observation services for this $531,753.23 project. Veterans Road North-South Connector Road; Marion County Commission, Palmyra, MO The connector roadway, an important two-lane 24-foot wide concrete roadway (w/bike lanes) linking Marion County on the North with Ralls County on the South. The new roadway connects the new 4-Lane Highway 36 project (I-72) from two directions, provides a bypass around the City on the West and encourages future westward expansion opportunities for Hannibal as the City continues to grow in that direction. The 3.24 mile project was constructed in Parts A, B, C for a final construction cost of $5.4 million dollars, on time and under budget. The project was a cooperative effort between the Marion County Commission, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Hannibal. Dedication ceremonies for the final phase was held November 12, 200. MECO Engineering was proud to have provided engineering design, surveying, construction engineering, construction management and construction observation services for this high impact project.
